From December 1st to March 31st

All items free of charges must be properly sorted at the right locations when unloading at Landfill site, if not a surcharge of mixed load will apply.

Rates are calculated by weight (ton). Here is a list of the commonly used rates:

  • Minimum fee: $20.00
  • Items with refrigerant: $20.00
  • Alternative cover and cement: $45.00 / ton
  • Construction wood: $45.00 / ton
  • Residential, commercial and construction waste: $90.00 / ton
  • *Mixed loads: $135.00 / ton
  • *Asbestos: $300/ton**
  • Surcharge for prohibited materials: $10.00 to $30.00 per item**

Prohibited materials

No person shall, at the Clarence-Rockland Waste Disposal Site, deposit any of the following materials: see by-law 2018-48 for more details.

  • sludge from septic tanks or septage
  • highly flammable or volatile substances, including ashes
  • the carcass of any animal or part thereof save bona fide kitchen waste
  • hauled sewage
  • sewage, human or animal excrement, with the exception of domestic animal excrement which has been properly packaged in a closed container such as a plastic bag with the open end tied off
  • explosive material
  • ammunition, firearms and explosives
  • pharmaceuticals or dangerous chemical waste
  • pathological waste
  • liquid waste
  • needles
  • any dangerous and hazardous material such as poisons, hot live ashes, caustics, acids, pesticides, herbicides, radioactive material, industrial process sludge, biomedical waste, substances which may cause personal or environmental problems
  • material originating from a material recovery facility (MRF), unless material is defined as residue and authorized by Director of Infrastructure and Planning
  • live animals or birds
  • any material under a landfill ban from any level of government to which the jurisdiction of the City of Clarence-Rockland is subject
  • any material deposited with the intent to damage any vehicle
  • any waste that is suspected to have been or has been generated outside the boundaries of the City of Clarence-Rockland or for which proof of origin cannot be provided upon request
  • any waste that the Director of Infrastructure and Planning assesses should not be landfilled for precautionary reasons or because of a lack of information regarding the material
